At Ahmedabad, when I was enjoying myself at the Kankaria Lake, I happened to meet Swami Ananda Ghan. Although Swamiji was with his other guests, he kindly asked me to be his guest for one day. Generally, I don’t go to other people’s house, but there was something in Swamiji that attracted me.
At 76, Swami Ananda is really an energetic person. He’s also one of the most compassionate persons I’ve ever met. Swamiji not only offered me one day’s stay at his house, but he also let me sleep in his own bedroom.
I’d to catch the early morning train. AT 4 O’clock in the morning, Swami woke me up and offered the bed tea he himself had made. Then he drove me to the railway station which is about 45 min distance from his home.
I was feeling a bit uncomfortable to see Swamiji doing all these things for me. But, Swamiji’s love was so unconditional that I could not say no.
When we were going to bed at mid-night, Swami said to me,”Dekho Beta(Look son), do whatever you feel like. But don’t leave your dad in his old age. In our culture, mother’s position is highest: Matridevo Bhava. Then comes father’s position: Piturdevo Bhava. You’ve already lost the opportunity to serve your mother, but don’t miss the opportunity to serve your father.”
Swamiji sounded disturbed when he learned that I’d not informed anyone about my whereabouts. “Immediately inform you family members. Don’t you think that they might be worrying for you?” he said.
Then Swamiji said: You’re not wrong to say Aham Brahmasmi(I’m the Bramha). But don’t stay there. Continue your spiritual journey until you arrive at the conclusion: Savamidam Khalam Bramha(The whole world in the Bramha).
