Guys, did you experience today’s earthquake? how was it? wasn’t it really a thrilling experience?…the building in which we were working suddenly started swaying… the lights went out… there was a sudden uproar..everyone began running out…i waited for a few seconds and began pondering if it was the last moment?.. like everyone else i also knew that running away from an earthquake is just another futile attempt..but then why waste a chance to save your life? so i also came out of the building…hahaha … what i noticed was that crows that live in the nearby trees were also scared for their life.. all the crows started flying together…but the dogs didn’t show any reaction…looks like after centuries of living together with humans, the dogs too have lost their senses..
i see such moments of life versus death necessary for our spiritual growth…such moments should come often…however, they should come when i’m safe outside a building.. 🙂 ..such moments make people introspective…it’s an opportunity to look into everything we’re doing… both as individuals and as societies..we do not remain the same before & after an earthquake..it’s what the meditators call the experience of a satori.. sharing some moments of life & death together makes us more humane..
whenever doctors warn me of the consequences of high cholesterol & other health problems or when people warn me about anything about future, or when i see myself and others anxious over petty things, i’m reminded of moments like these.. what the worth your anxieties of a life time when it cannot save you from a few seconds of an earthquake?
btw, we have returned into our building to finish our work…& congratulation to all those who remained inside their buildings during the quake…i’ve heard that those who remain inside the building during a quake & still survive it, they become saints… ;)…but looks i’m not going to be a saint in this life… 😦 .. perhaps, that’s coz in times of crisis, i become very selfish… during a quake, the most important thing for me to save my own life… 😛
they say that after the first event of earthquake, it comes back again..just hope that the building meets the standard for withstanding an earthquake..and after finishing my work in this building, i’m going sleep in another building…but i wonder how many Kathmanduites are going to sleep tonight? More importantly, will i write my next blog post?…just kidding guys, don’t worry… even if i’m dead, i’m not going to leave you guys so soon…i’ll keep on haunting you guys when you’re going to the toilet at night alone…heeheeheeheehoohoohoohaahaahaa…
Anyway, if you’re reading this post, don’t forget that you survived a massive earthquake…congratulations for a fresh life!
