Gaza Kids: Dad, when are we going to die?
By Afaque Ahamed
I could not help crying when I read the piece “Dad, when are we going to die?” (Jan. 8, Page 5). Gazans are going through extremely terrible times. Why are Israeli forces destroying their schools, colleges, markets and mosques? This is my question to the international community. Can Israel do whatever it wants just because it is powerful? What about the UN Security Council?
When Iran or any Islamic republic ignores the orders of the international community, it is punished with sanctions. When Saddam Hussein ignores their orders, he is hanged. But when Israel ignores the ceasefire proposal of the European Union, the United Nations and the Arab world, along with appeals from Muslims across the world, then how come no action is taken against it? I appeal to everyone to show their humanity towards Gazans, so that no son needs to ask his father, “Dad, when are we going to die?”
