“Imagine All the People…”
Nepalis are notorius for giving a 360 degrees second thought to their decisions.
The public opinion, unless the political parties mend their ways, might shift again in favor of monarchy after the CA polls.
Has anyone forgotten how the people had welcomed King Gyanendra’s dismissal of the ‘elected’ government?
Hadn’t the King taken the regressive march literally by putting putting himself in his father’s shoes & uniform made in 1961, the prospects for the April Uprising would be still there – but only in the distant future.
The King has every possibility of playing with the idea of a Democratic Federal Kingdom of Nepal.
And the Nepal Army, as always, would not hesitate to back a ‘legitimate goverment’ again!
Perhaps, aware of the shifting paradigm of political opinion, the leaders themselves have been talking of a ‘disaster’ after the CA elections.
But, the people are used to dealing with ‘disasters’ – and they know very well what the politicians are paranoid of.
Hence, better if the New Nepal builders stopped fidgeting, & followed the camel driver’s instructions:
“Once you get into the desert, there’s no going back…
And when you can’t go back; you have to worry only about the best way of moving forward.
The rest is upto Allah, including the danger.”*
