Amid the good news that the Nepali PM is in consultation with the agitating groups in the Terai/Madhes, the mindless violence & the brutal suppression might lead things beyond anyone’s control.
Mindless violence by the agitating groups - bombs are detonated amidst the mass meetings and a number of armed outfits contest to own responsibility.
Brutal suppression by the government - even commoners are ruthlessly beaten up, and allegedly, innocent persons have been killed in the name of encounter.
Both the government & the agitators must change their ‘confrontation’ tactics owing to the deteriorating communal tolerance.
Intellectuals & the civic society should also urge the armed outfits in the Terai that their ethnic cleansing and communal hatred strategies may worsen both the intercultural and intra-cultural harmony in the nation.
